Flint residents can enjoy a tropical experience without ever leaving the city Aug. 4.
At noon the Flint River Flotilla will return for its fourth annual outing, with an island-themed afternoon of fun.
The Corridor Alliance Chapter of the Flint River Watershed Coalition and Tenacity Brewing invite guests to put on their best island-style attire and decorate “anything that floats” to join the relaxing river excursion. Awards for best outfit, best-decorated boat and other prizes will be presented.
“The 2018 Flint River Flotilla provides a fun opportunity for folks to see up-close what all the work happening in and around the river is about,” says Sarah Scheitler. “We want the entire community to connect with this beautiful natural resource in our backyards.”

Sponsored by General Motors, an after-party featuring the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint’s steel drum band, food trucks, and a kayak raffle will be held.
Guests are invited to park free of charge at Mott Park Recreation Area (formerly the Mott Park Golf Course) on Sunset Drive, and can take a free shuttle, provided by Mott Community College to register at Tenacity Brewing, 119 N. Grand Traverse St.
Registration is $10 for adults 18 and older, $5 for ages 13-17, and free for ages 12 and younger. Life jackets are required for guests and will be available for purchase.
