Programs benefitting Flint’s north end neighborhood are almost $2 million richer.
The Ruth Mott Foundation today announced its board of trustees approved $1,958,195 in grants to enrich youth, safety, economic, and community initiatives. Grantees that received the 25 awards, ranging from $22,000 to $404,000 include vocational training, art, education, crime prevention and literacy programs, along with a neighborhood planning effort through the City of Flint.

North Flint-based agencies and their strategies for utilizing the Ruth Mott Foundation resources include:
- Active Boys in Christ, ABC Youth Project job skills training – $22,000
- Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee County, Mr. Gaines Gardening Program PLUS 2018 for youth gardening instruction – $106,000
- Eastside Compassionate Mission Center, Empowering through Employment 2018 summer jobs and literacy – $27,348
- Flint Cultural Center Corp., educational and cultural youth activities, jobs and literacy training – $39,722
