The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce is seeking local leaders – right now.

Leadership NOW, a development program co-led by the Chamber and United Way of Genesee County, is accepting candidates for its next cohort, beginning Jan. 25, 2019.

The effort promotes learning and implementation of goals that ultimately equip citizens to improve the community and region.

“Leadership NOW is an immersive experience that helps participants develop their leadership styles through dynamic learning experiences,” says DeAndra Larkin, group vice president at the Flint & Genesee Chamber. “It also empowers them to work together to address challenges and pursue opportunities in Flint and Genesee County.”

Leadership NOW is designed for business, nonprofit and municipal professionals who are willing to undergo in-depth assessments and, at least, 100 hours of training during the course of a year. Participants are required to collaborate and develop projects that benefit a local organization or the larger community.

“I’m nearing retirement and wanted to become more involved in my community,” says Loren Crandell, a previous cohort participant. “Through Leadership NOW, I was introduced to Friends of Berston Field House and I now sit on their board. It’s allowed me to plug into Genesee County in ways I hadn’t before.”

Candidates must attend an information session at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, at 519 S. Saginaw St., on one of the following dates:

Applications, which are available online and will also be distributed during the information sessions, are due by Oct. 25.
