Their return to Flint marks a special reunion.
Best friends, former drum majors in the school band, and now entrepreneurs, Don Smith and KendallKyndall will hold an event in their hometown for the first time in years April 8.
KendallKyndall, who was named BET’s Social Media Hustler of The Year, will host “The Return – A Live Motion Story Fashion Presentation Show,” directed by Smith, at the Northbank Center Ballroom. TheHUB Flint is a media sponsor.
Also known as “Don the Junkman,” Smith says he and Kendall look forward to inspiring other aspiring Flint artists, designers and media talents.
“It’s time to come back and give some inspiration,” says Smith, who has designed clothes for singers Fantasia Barrino and Wyclef Jean.
Smith’s travels have taken him to cities including Detroit, Atlanta, and Dallas, while Kendall’s work has boosted his visibility as a commentator, garnering 1.2 million Instagram followers.
Doors to “The Return” open at 5 p.m., followed by fashion and grooming vendors and a short musical performance.
Also featured will be a tribute to Janice Smith Polite, hair care entrepreneur.
Tickets may be purchased at Music Planet, 517 West Carpenter Road, or online at www.TheReturn810.eventbrite.com, but will not be available for purchase at the event.
“It’s more for entrepreneurs and dreamers, anybody who wants to try and make things happen, to show them they can do it, too,” Smith says.
