Runners – and walkers – of all experience levels will get on their marks Aug. 24-25.
All ages, backgrounds and abilities, including wheelchair participants, will be represented in the annual HAP Crim Festival of Races. Organizers at the Crim Fitness Foundation say competing is less the goal of the outing than camaraderie, as participants from throughout the country and overseas have been known to support the event and honor the spirit of Flint.
Runs and other events scheduled include the Michigan Mile Race Series presented by the University of Michigan-Flint, the High School Challenge, Run/Walk & Competitive Walk, and 5K race presented by Huntington Bank and Family Walk, including strollers for infants.
Now in its 42nd year, the race remains one of Flint’s most visible community events. Participants receive a t-shirt, coupons for patronizing local businesses, medals for all “finishers,” and other rewards. Live music and a festive atmosphere will be part of the event to help encourage runners along their routes to the finish line. Pizza, cold beverages and snacks will be available for participants after completing their efforts.
