Faith is something Damontai Richard wants to see more of throughout Flint and Genesee Country area. The 24 year-old entrepreneur, Fame fashion show producer, model and entertainer knows an awful lot about the importance of it having survived a sexual assault and other violence.
Recovery takes faith. courage and support, according to Richard, who aims to inspire the many individuals who succumbed to or been victims of violence through his music, which is filled with aspirational messaging of the power of the Word.
Richards has amassed a group of nearly 2,000 loyal Instagram followers, but he wants to do much more with social media channels and music career by calling attention to the importance of violence prevention and importance of instilling faith and confidence within ourselves and our community.
All are a part of the motivation behind his On Fire for God gospel event, which will take place on June 11 at United Outreach Ministries from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters Flint.
“We overcome a lot,” says Richards. “I hope that this event will help to reconcile and heal our community. God knows we need that.
