Thanksgiving will come to Flint a bit early so no one has to go without a good holiday meal, organizers of a local event say.

The 10th annual “Blessed to be a Blessing” dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 812 Root St. Nov. 20. Hosted by Well of Hope and Catholic Charities, the dinner will also include a sock giveaway sponsored by Elga Credit Union. Each guest will be gifted multiple pairs of socks.

Blessed to be a Blessing Founder Chia Morgan and supporters serve hundreds of meals to neighbors annually.

“When we first started out, we did not know that we would grow to feed this many of our neighbors, but we are grateful,” says Chia Morgan, “Blessed to be a Blessing’s founder and coordinator. “The community has allowed us to feed them over the years and they have become our extended family. We have families that come from out of town to volunteer. and others have changed their annual vacation plans so that they can be in town for this event.”

Additional event sponsors and patrons include Community Foundation of Greater Flint, HAP, Robert and Sharonna Owens, Pentecostal Temple Apostolic Church, and Hamilton Community Health Network.
